Join over three hundred professionals from around the world on our moderated email list in discussing topics relevant to the field of training and organizational development. Guidelines

Over the years our group has decided on a few guidelines or ground rules that have proven helpful in making participation productive and inoffensive.

• Non-commercial - solicitation or promotion of products and services is unwelcome on our list, even for training or OD-related business. Feel free to ask for advice, or even the names of local vendors (though remember that not everyone is in the San Jose area), but once discussion becomes specific to your need, take the discussion off the list. Note that we do use the list to annouce our own and other non-profit organization events.
• Self-service - use the functionality provided by the list to manage your subscription for yourself, including subscribing and unsubscribing. When you go on vacation and you set an out-of-office notification, don't forget to temporarily set your subscription to NOMAIL, or just unsubscribe.
• Group-managed - the guidelines described here are distilled from conversation on the list. If you see something you don't like, or want to see more of, speak up. The moderator simply tries to support the group's consensus.
• Moderator - the list is moderated by a Chapter member. This individual reviews messages for appropriate content and inoffensive language. When in doubt, the moderator will allow messages to appear.

Commands

You can manage your subscription to the list with the following commands, or by using the the web interface shown below. To use these, just a send a blank message to the address corresponding to the appropriate command:

2. To unsubscribe from our group:

3. To post a message to our group:
   ASTD-SV@yahoogroups.com
4. To post a message to our group's owners and moderators:
   ASTD-SV-owner@yahoogroups.com
5. To put your email message delivery on hold for our group:
   ASTD-SV-nomail@yahoogroups.com
6. To change your subscription to daily digest mode:
   ASTD-SV-digest@yahoogroups.com
7. To change your subscription to individual emails:
   ASTD-SV-normal@yahoogroups.com
8. To receive general help information:
   ASTD-SV-help@yahoogroups.com

If you use the the email commands you do not need to have a Yahoo ID.

Web Interface

The web interface to our Group (http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/ASTD-SV/) is a cinch as long as you have a Yahoo ID and remember your Yahoo logon credentials. A lot of people don't use Yahoo very frequently, or may not even have a Yahoo ID, so that can be a problem! For them, the email commands are probably best.

If you want to use your web browser to read and post to the list, you need to have a Yahoo ID. You can use both the email commands and the web interface if you like, they are not mutually exclusive.
