Project HIRED,
a long-standing partner with ASTD Silicon Valley, is a Santa Clara
County not-for-profit organization that assists disabled adults
in the Bay Area find meaningful employment. (www.projecthired.org)
There are several ways to volunteer with Project
HIRED and gain valuable experience in the training field while expanding
your professional network. In addition, you will learn about the
challenges that individuals with disabilities face in gaining employment
and benefit from working hands-on with one of the single largest
minority groups today.
Mentor Program
Become a mentor! Practice your coaching techniques
and strategies in a 1:1 learning environment to assist individuals
with disabilities in developing job search strategies for successful
employment outcomes. The Mentor Program has a Spring, Fall, and
Winter session which include an Orientation/Kick-Off Lunch, 10-weeks
of one-on-one meetings with a Project HIRED client, and a Celebration
Lunch to conclude the session. These sessions are among the most
popular and inspiring community service volunteer opportunities
ASTD Silicon Valley offers.
Seminar Presentations/Guest Speaker
Enhance your group presentation/facilitation
skills by leading a seminar on Networking, Interviewing, Resume
Writing, or a job search topic in which you would like to share
your tips, insights, and personal expertise.
Mock/Informational Interviews
Keep you staffing and recruiting skills sharp
by facilitating a mock interview session with a Project HIRED job
seeker. Mock interviews assist our job seekers to gain valuable
interviewing experience and receive constructive feedback. Through
Informational Interviewing, our job seekers leverage your expertise
in learning about industry trends, career/job insights, and professional/personal
referrals and contacts.
Recruiter-to-Recruiter Contact
Become a diversity champion within your company
by designating yourself as a contact person for Project HIRED. Our
job developers will meet with you to discuss partnership opportunities
and assist you in meeting your staffing needs. In addition receive
our Hot Candidate list which profiles our most eligible job seekers.
