Project HIRED

Project HIRED, a long-standing partner with ASTD Silicon Valley, is a Santa Clara County not-for-profit organization that assists disabled adults in the Bay Area find meaningful employment. (www.projecthired.org)

There are several ways to volunteer with Project HIRED and gain valuable experience in the training field while expanding your professional network. In addition, you will learn about the challenges that individuals with disabilities face in gaining employment and benefit from working hands-on with one of the single largest minority groups today.

Mentor Program

Become a mentor! Practice your coaching techniques and strategies in a 1:1 learning environment to assist individuals with disabilities in developing job search strategies for successful employment outcomes. The Mentor Program has a Spring, Fall, and Winter session which include an Orientation/Kick-Off Lunch, 10-weeks of one-on-one meetings with a Project HIRED client, and a Celebration Lunch to conclude the session. These sessions are among the most popular and inspiring community service volunteer opportunities ASTD Silicon Valley offers.

Seminar Presentations/Guest Speaker

Enhance your group presentation/facilitation skills by leading a seminar on Networking, Interviewing, Resume Writing, or a job search topic in which you would like to share your tips, insights, and personal expertise.

Mock/Informational Interviews

Keep you staffing and recruiting skills sharp by facilitating a mock interview session with a Project HIRED job seeker. Mock interviews assist our job seekers to gain valuable interviewing experience and receive constructive feedback. Through Informational Interviewing, our job seekers leverage your expertise in learning about industry trends, career/job insights, and professional/personal referrals and contacts.
