Vice President - Technology


REPORTS TO: Chapter President

TERM: One year.

PURPOSE: To identify, implement and maintain website content and features and other technologies that will support board goals and improve member services.

SUPERVISES: Technology committee members and volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend and participate in all monthly Board meetings and chapter programs. Participate in other chapter events, committee meetings and conferences as available.
  2. Recruit and train volunteers to support Technology functions.
  3. Represent chapter professionally and ethically in all business functions/organizational activities
  4. Provide maintenance and development support services for chapter web site and manage vendors and volunteers to ensure quality and reliability.
  5. Support board and chapter functions by providing web pages, publishing interface, surveys, discussiions, webinars, online-forms, e-commerce and other features as appropriate.
  6. Manage chapter's electronic discussion forums.
  7. Maintain effective development and publishing infrastructures for online chapter newsletter.
  8. Design annual budget for Technology function; audit income/expenses monthly to ensure chapter's sound financial status.
  9. Research, develop and facilitate the sourcing of new ideas and concepts for using technological innovation to deliver enhanced services to members.
  10. Recruit and train incoming V.P.-Technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Directly involved in the Training and Development field with broad knowledge of local resources; minimum 5 years experience desired.
  2. National member of ASTD and a member in good standing of the Silicon Valley Chapter.
  3. Time available to fully participate in chapter and board meetings.
  4. Basic understanding of the various technologies for which Technology has oversight.
  5. Adept in verbal communication, diplomacy, personal interaction and problem-solving
  6. Experience in technology applications for training and development also helpful.
  7. Ability to build, motivate and lead a team of volunteers.
  8. Ability to delegate tasks and monitor follow-through.

REALISTIC ESTIMATE OF TIME THIS FUNCTION WILL TAKE EACH MONTH:

  1. Attending Board Meetings: 2 hours plus travel time
  2. Attending CMT Committee meetings: 1-2 hours plus travel time
  3. Attending monthly chapter meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
  4. Communicating with newsletter editor, individuals responsible for website, administrative office and committee members about routine issues: 2-4 hours
