| REPORTS TO: Chapter
President; coordinates activities with VP Programs.
TERM: One year.
PURPOSE: As determined with the Board, deliver a number of extraordinary
events, for the purposes of raising money, increasing awareness
of ASTD's presence in Silicon Valley, and attracting non-members
to events.
SUPERVISES Supports Program Committee.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend Board meetings monthly, Program committee meetings as
much as possible, and monthly chapter programs as much as possible.
- Report progress on planning of extraordinary events in a timely
fashion to the board.
- Deliver at least one extraordinary event per year that fulfills
the three goals listed above.
- Attend and participate in all monthly Board meetings and chapter
programs. Participate in other chapter events, committee meetings
and conferences as available.
- Represent chapter professionally and ethically in all business
functions/organizational activities
- Recruit and train incoming V.P.-Professional Development
- Recruit and train volunteers to support Professional Development
functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to mobilize and attract committee members
- Ability to plan and implement the plan for extraordinary events,
including all the details around the design and logistics of the
event.
- Directly involved in the Training and Development field with
broad knowledge of local resources; minimum 5 years experience
desired.
- National member of ASTD and a member in good standing of the
Silicon Valley chapter.
- Time available to fully participate in chapter and board meetings.
REALISTIC ESTIMATE OF TIME THIS FUNCTION WILL TAKE EACH MONTH:
- Attending Board Meetings: 2 hours plus travel time
- Attending Program Committee meetings: 1-2 hours per month plus
travel time
- Working on Prof. Dev. events or Program events: 0 to 10 hours
per month. Committee members can also do much of this work.
