Vice President - Operations & Finance


REPORTS TO: Chapter President

TERM: One year.

PURPOSE: Coordinates budget and operational issues with other board members, and administrative services. Assures that chapter operations are in compliance with ASTD's CORE requirements.

SUPERVISES Audit Committee
Administrative Office

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend and participate in all monthly Board meetings and chapter programs. Participate in other chapter events, committee meetings and conferences as available.
  2. Oversee operations and finance for the chapter.
  3. Report on financial status of chapter each January at membership meeting, and each month at board meetings.
  4. Prepare budget for year.
  5. Oversee the accuracy of record-keeping and reporting.
  6. Audit income/expenses, and cash-flow monthly to ensure chapter's sound financial status.
  7. Ensure compliance with CORE.
  8. Represent chapter professionally and ethically in all business functions/organizational activities
  9. Recruit and train incoming V.P.-Operations and Finance
  10. Recruit and train volunteers to support audit functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Good understanding of operations and finance.
  2. Ability to work with administrative services.
  3. Directly involved in the Training and Development field.
  4. National member of ASTD and a member in good standing of the Silicon Valley chapter.
  5. Time available to fully participate in chapter and board meetings, and represent the chapter regionally and nationally

REALISTIC ESTIMATE OF TIME THIS FUNCTION WILL TAKE EACH MONTH:

  1. Attending Board Meetings: 2 hours plus travel time
  2. Conducting internal Audit with committee: 8 hours plus travel time (one-time only)
  3. Attending monthly chapter meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
  4. Communicating with and supervising the functions of administrative office: 2-4 hours
