President
TERM: One year.
PURPOSE: To engage in the design and implementation of programs
that broaden the membership engagement for Silicon Valley - ASTD;
increase membership by an identified goal, annually
SUPERVISES: Membership Committee
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide services that will enhance new members acculturation
to the organization
- Partner with other teams ( marketing, programs) with events
that will highlight the value to becoming a member
- Implement programs that review and follow-up on current membership
status that results in decreasing membership expirations
- Create prospect and new member packets detailing top benefits
of joining organization, upcoming opportunities to meet other
prospects/members.
- Ensure new member orientation occurs with reliability with
core committee members available to answer questions regarding
organization
- Ensure welcome "gift bags" of related industry material
are available to attendee of the orientation meetings
- Ensure processes are in place to follow up with members whose
annual membership is approaching ending, and advocate renewal.
- Increase renewal by a stated amount.
- Build a virtual team of committee members to ensure breadth
of projects associated with retaining and increasing membership
are completed.
- Attend and participate in all monthly Board meetings and chapter
programs. Participate in other chapter events, committee meetings
and conferences as available.
- Represent chapter professionally and ethically in all business
functions/organizational activities
- Recruit and train incoming V.P.-Membership
- Recruit and train volunteers to support Membership functions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Directly involved in the Training and Development field with
broad knowledge of local resources: minimum 5 years experience
desired.
- National member of ASTD and a member in good standing of the
Silicon Valley Chapter.
- Time available to fully participate in chapter programs and
board meetings.
- Good communications skills
- Be Flexible
- Have a willingness to advocate the Chapter
- Ability to seek others out as volunteers
- Speak at monthly meetings.
- Be Resourceful
REALISTIC ESTIMATE OF TIME THIS FUNCTION WILL TAKE EACH MONTH:
- Attending Board Meetings: 2 hours plus travel time
- Attending Membership Committee meetings: 1-2 hours plus travel
time
- Attending monthly chapter meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
- Communicating with administrative office and committee members
about routine issues: 2-4 hours
