Vice President - Community Relations


REPORTS TO: Chapter President

TERM: One year.

PURPOSE: To establish and facilitate meaningful relationships between ASTD members and local
non-profit organizations, with the specific objective of matching ASTD talents and non-profit agency needs.

SUPERVISES: Community Relations committee.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Attend monthly Board meetings, monthly chapter programs, and periodic committee meetings with specific non-profit community agencies.
  2. Report progress on partnerships with non-profit agencies and provide monthly report of volunteer hours by ASTD-SV members, for both ASTD and community service activities.
  3. Facilitate a minimum of three (3) community service partnerships.
  4. Attend and participate in all monthly Board meetings and chapter programs. Participate in other chapter events, committee meetings and conferences as available.
  5. Represent chapter professionally and ethically in all business functions/organizational activities
  6. Recruit and train incoming V.P.-CMT.
  7. Recruit and train volunteers to support Community Relations functions.
  8. Design annual budget for function; audit income/expenses monthly to ensure chapter's sound financial status.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Ability to plan and implement the plan for non-profit partnerships
  2. Ability to mobilize and attract volunteers from members
  3. Ability to create strong partnerships to fill needs of community.
  4. Directly involved in the Training and Development field with broad knowledge of local resources; minimum 5 years experience desired.
  5. National member of ASTD and a member in good standing of the Silicon Valley chapter.
  6. Time available to fully participate in chapter and board meetings.

REALISTIC ESTIMATE OF TIME THIS FUNCTION WILL TAKE EACH MONTH:

  1. Attending Board Meetings: 2 hours plus travel time
  2. Attending Committee meetings: 1-2 hours plus travel time
  3. Attending monthly chapter meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
  4. Communicating with administrative office and committee members about routine issues: 2-4 hours
