Past President


TERM: One year; renewable upon re-election, in the absence of a current President.

PURPOSE: Provide advice and leadership to the organization and the President and President-Elect.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Advise ASTD Officers/Executive committee on various issues and topics.
  2. Support the President and President-Elect toward accomplishing their respective chapter goals.
  3. Provide a stronger National ASTD connection via participation on Forums, serving as area advisors to other chapters, etc.
  4. Act as President should both the President and President-elect be unavailable.
  5. Attend and participate in all monthly Board meetings and chapter programs. Participate in other chapter events, committee meetings and conferences as available.
  6. Represent chapter professionally and ethically in all business functions/organizational activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Served as President.
  2. Demonstrated experience in budget design and accountability desired.
  3. Ability to build, create an environment for motivations, and lead a team of volunteers.
  4. Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate chapter activities.
  5. Demonstrated skills in effective leadership, diplomacy, personal interaction, problem-solving meeting management and communication.
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
  7. National member of ASTD and a member in good standing of the Silicon Valley chapter.
  8. Time available to fully participate in chapter and board meetings, and represent the chapter regionally and nationally
  9. Directly involved in the Training and Development field with broad knowledge of local resources; minimum 5 years experience desired.

REALISTIC ESTIMATE OF TIME THIS FUNCTION WILL TAKE EACH MONTH:

  1. Attending Board Meetings: 2 hours plus travel time
  2. Attending monthly chapter meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
  3. Communicating administrative office and board members about routine issues: 2-4 hours
