| TERM: One year; renewable
upon re-election, in the absence of a current President.
PURPOSE: Provide advice and leadership to the organization and
the President and President-Elect.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise ASTD Officers/Executive committee on various issues
and topics.
- Support the President and President-Elect toward accomplishing
their respective chapter goals.
- Provide a stronger National ASTD connection via participation
on Forums, serving as area advisors to other chapters, etc.
- Act as President should both the President and President-elect
be unavailable.
- Attend and participate in all monthly Board meetings and chapter
programs. Participate in other chapter events, committee meetings
and conferences as available.
- Represent chapter professionally and ethically in all business
functions/organizational activities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Served as President.
- Demonstrated experience in budget design and accountability
desired.
- Ability to build, create an environment for motivations, and
lead a team of volunteers.
- Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate chapter activities.
- Demonstrated skills in effective leadership, diplomacy, personal
interaction, problem-solving meeting management and communication.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects.
- National member of ASTD and a member in good standing of the
Silicon Valley chapter.
- Time available to fully participate in chapter and board meetings,
and represent the chapter regionally and nationally
- Directly involved in the Training and Development field with
broad knowledge of local resources; minimum 5 years experience
desired.
REALISTIC ESTIMATE OF TIME THIS FUNCTION WILL TAKE EACH MONTH:
- Attending Board Meetings: 2 hours plus travel time
- Attending monthly chapter meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
- Communicating administrative office and board members about
routine issues: 2-4 hours
